Are they allowed to advertise themselves as Assured Breeders when they're advertising crossbreeds? Shocked to see an advert claiming to be breeding from 'the most sought after breeding lines' where the stud dog is ridiculously overused and the dam is claimed to be homebred but her KC name isn't recognised on the Mate Select tool. They're Assured Breeders for one of the breeds but surely cannot claim to be for a cross?

As far as im aware an assured breeder has to register any litters from kc parents..reckon shes just saying shes an assured breeder to attract the unknowing public to her cross bredlitter...any litter born from KC'd parents must be registered, thats all the rules state

I agree, surely not.   If I'd seen this, I'd have been onto the Kennel Club - and I suggest you do just that although if they are for one purebred breed, I suppose it would be difficult to stop her saying she is an AB.  Again talk to the KC about what's going on.

Looking at a litter some years back now, the breeder was on the phone talking to another enquiry, and I was shocked to hear her saying she was one, when to my knowledge at the time, she was not.   Her conditions, and the poor puppies were shocking - seldom have I been handed a puppy to hold, and hardly been able to bring myself to take it the poor thing was in such shocking condition.    Needless to say we didn't buy and on further enquiry of other breeders in the breed (which was new to me) I was told they'd been trying to shut her down for years.

As always, buying a puppy has to end with 'buyer beware' and all anybody can do is keep banging the drum re mix-breeding and the dangers of buying into this.   Perhaps eventually the UK KC will follow other European KCs and limit the number of litters that can be registered in a year, from one stud dog.

A couple of years ago I saw a website from an ABS member advertising a 'designer' breed.  I informed the KC and the advert was removed from the website.  I believe they are allowed to breed them but not to advertise them as being under the ABS scheme.
