I enjoyed it. Found it interesting that the wolves liked Chanel no 5, I've always worn it, only got me a husband- no wolf ;)

Dab on some more, and howl :)

the bit that fascinated me was the dog finding the tin of bait in a lake over a mile square and under 6m of water and 1m of mud. I always knew dogs had incredible noses but thatwas something else.

I enjoyed this, but what they didn't explain was why the wolves loved and were rolling in Chanel No 5? Or am I being dense here? Is it wanting to mask their own smell by smelling of the immediate environment or is there another reason that they are so attracted? I wonder if they would have rolled if a different scent had been sprayed...

Good perfume has musk added to it (from the musk deers scent gland) and that is what attracts the wolves. I can smell musk quite strongly in some of my perfumes.
I wonder if dogs would roll in Chanel No 5? Anyone got any and willing to experiment?

I did think that Jodi, something to do with pheromones and I can also smell it quite strongly in my perfumes but I don't have any Chanel No 5 or else I would love to see if my 2 reprobates would be interested in rolling in it. I use a grooming spray and mine roll like crazy when they smell it being used on the other dog but this is more to get rid of the smell than to enjoy it me thinks...although they do enjoy rolling near the trays when I clean out my Priarie Dog cages, I think its because this is the time of year when they are scent marking so they smell very musky right now.

Really good book about a search dog handler and his dogs is  Search Dogs and Me by Neil Powell.

Haven't read it myself [on wish list] but this is supposed to be really good -
http://catwarren.com/the-book/

"Cat Warren is a university professor and former journalist with an admittedly odd hobby: She and her German shepherd have spent the last seven years searching for the dead. Solo is a cadaver dog. What started as a way to harness Solo's unruly energy and enthusiasm soon became a calling that introduced her to the hidden and fascinating universe of working dogs, their handlers, and their trainers."

I'll give it a go with my lot, they can either have Chanel no 5 perfume or body lotion. Need to wait for a dry day so I can experiment ;)
