Can anyone give me some advice we imported a puppy from Hungary, the breeder did all the paperwork and he has a pet passport.  Due to difficult circumstances with males fighting in our kennels he is going back to live with his breeder in Hungary, what paperwork do I need to do to export him,  I have found DERFAs website no help at all.  He will be returning to be shown by the breeder.

Sorry about problems you've been having. I don't think this will be difficult. Assuming you have registered the boy with the UK KC you will need to transfer ownership/registration to his breeder and complete an Export Pedigree Form  ( Form 13 ) This can be downloaded from the KC web site. He'll need his passport to travel, assuming his Rabies vaccination is up to date . I guess transporting him there may be a problem although we've done the journey by car manytimes

Just to say, this is because DEFRA's information is for animals entering the UK, not leaving it. I guess it would be more or less impossible for them to print up to date information for all countries as rules can vary. To find out how to export to other countries you therefore need to check with that country's equivalent to DEFRA. Most official websites tend to have an English version of it. If you don't know what the ministry in question is called, start by finding the embassy website for the country and do a search from there -that's how I found out what rules apply to a number of other countries.

Thanks it doesnt sound as complicated as I first thought. Parting with my dog is not really what I want to do but it may come to that and the breeder has been very supportive.  I cant thank them enough. I just cant get this male to calm down even though the other male has allowed him to be top dog. Most of the problems occur when a bitch is in season, he has already bitten our other stud dog on a previous occassion.

As I assume he came in on Pet Passport, he can travel back under that scheme, but I think he will also need an utd health certificate.

As far as the paperwork with the KC is concerned, you will need an Export Pedigree so the breeder in Hungary can apply to her KC to have him transferred (back) into her name, unless she decides to leave him in your name (and assuming you have transferred him into your name?)?

I sympathise with your situation between the males - I had to home a boy we'd run on from an all-male litter (Sods Law when I wanted another bitch).   He hit 2 and started challenging his uncle, despite only the uncle being used at stud.  Try as I did, to get them to resolve their issues, there was no way the younger one was going to back off so in the end, I had to find him another home, so peace could return to our small pack.   It was heartbreaking, but for the best and he was fine.   When we went to check, a few months later, he acknowledged me, and went right back to playing with his two bitches!!    Result.
