I have a bit of a soft spot for keeping hens but was offered a pair of chinese geese. I am collecting them tomorrow and have a secure enclosure for them while I am at work and they can roam the acre and a half of lawn while I am home. I am hoping to hear from anyone who keeps them for a few tips etc. cant beat experience:-)

Hi, can't offer any help on them but my mum use to have several many years ago, they were all so tame and great "Great Guard Dogs". Good luck

I don't know much about their upkeep but I can tell you that geese are grazers, they will need that lawn :-)  But, they do make excellent lawnmowers so will save you a bit of work in the summer!  If not for the dogs I'd have some for that reason alone ;-)

A relative has a flock of the usual white geese who poo a lot. When we go round my dog thinks it's an all you can eat buffet - yuk !!!

Our geese did enormous poos and what grass we had was left in a mess.  Don't have them now but a near neighbour does, they are confined behind an electric fence and last time I was there there was a dead half eaten rat in with them so I guess they'd had it (or a bird had dropped it).

They are quite entertaining to watch but my dogs were terrified of them and the male was always sticking his beak through a wrought iron gate to challenge the dogs.
