hope there is someone technical to help me! today i deleted a subfolder as there were two with the same name, don't even know how this happened, was trying to colour code emails (husbands work email) this somehow got rid of both the empty folder and the folder with all his emails in! i have looked online extensively and there is no way to get this back. Some of the mail i found on the server but others that got moved straight away to that folder from a rule made are lost for good.
Now i have all accounts in IMAP so they are all co ordinated on phone and iPad but am wondering if i need to make them POP so whatever deleting i do in apple mail won't affect the server account, as it does now. say if i delete a message on apple mail or my iPad that message gets deleted on the server and other things like phone swell. if i delete a whole folder same thing happens :-( I think with POP account this wouldn't happen?
hope someone has kept up with what i am trying to ask and know what I am going on about!?!
I have lost the will as spent hours trying to recover those emails and now its past dogs tea time and its still bugging me. husband has been informed and thankfully not worried as he save the important stuff or prints off.

Just read your post to my son and he says no, making everything POP won't help you. And no I did not understand a single word he said lol

Ring apple support as I am sure they will help you .We don't use apple mail as we use our 1and1 email.

Ok, thank you for reading it anyway! From what I have read apple won't be able to recover deleted emails but I can ask them about pop & IMAP account setting. The other thing I can do is start using my Microsoft outlook program so once emails are in there they are safe.
Was trying to avoid lots of email software.

If you do use the Outllok programme, then make it a pop account and disable IMAP
I didn't when I first started using it and everything got syncronised everytime I did something either online or on the phone
I lost loads of mails I wanted to keep, luckily nothing too important
