Recently while watching a show held in my local village hall, I got talking to a friend from another breed, and open shows was one topic covered. She wondered if open shows should change in some way their classes. The idea was would an open show which scheduled for each breed, puppy, open and special champions class be popular. In larger numerical breeds perhaps the classes could be puppy, junior, open and special champions classes. It would be more a progeny show rather than a straight forward open show.
It would give novice judges the chance to judge young stock and older stock, the champions classes would encourage the people who might not show their open dogs against a champion and these classes may encourage people with champions to enter for a novice judge to go over.
Any other ideas anyone?
