I know Gus is only a baby still but does anyone have any little secret tips on howto calm their pups down .
He just LOVES everyone and everything( except for Noodle the cat) and at times gets himself too excited

Similar to an over srumulated child. Hold firmly, and stoke very slowly, also speak in a drawling slow quiet voice, liike a record that has ben put on the wrong speed!

Often when they are being wild we end up adding to it by shouting, or p-eting in fast busy manner. Make all movements slow and deliberate, and not exciting.

It worked for me with an exciteable Belgian Shepherd, and a lively young Elkhound who din't sometimes know when enough was enough. :D

another thing is for you to take control and change the activity/alter direction or focus BEFORE he gets over excited. He is a pup and should be lively - but if you control it now you will reap the rewards in the long run. This doesn;t mean stopping him being a puppy and learning, exploring and having fun - but reducing the over-excitement which is when nipping etc starts.

Its situations like training classes when he just wants to be with the other owners and other dogs and gets over-excited.
Its hard to distract him at times like that .
Anyone got a magic wand ???? :D
