Topic Other Boards / Foo / Flood Alerts - good luck!
- By dogs a babe Date 02.01.14 22:19 UTC
I live on the coast in North Somerset and there is a Flood Warning for our area for tomorrow morning.  As I write this post there are 186 Flood Warnings, 19 Severe Flood Warnings and 234 Flood Alerts in place (these have increased in number in the last 30 minutes). More information is available from the Environment Agency...

Good luck to all of you, and your dogs, if you are at risk :)

We are just driving back from Monmouth way back to oxon and the Wye has burst it banks.

Hasn't stopped raining  all week !

We survived unscathed although it was pretty close by all accounts around high tide at 8am - luckily the wind was slight and only picked up an hour later.

I've just been out with the dogs and despite being really windy (it turned the woofs ears inside out) and very muddy, we managed to get out and back without rain!

We will have our fingers crossed at high tide again tonight

Phew, that's a relief dogs a babe.  We're near you, I think, but inland and on a hill so not quite so scary.  Have been thinking of you and others in this terrible weather.  Good luck to you for the next high tide and to everyone in the continuing rain and wind!

One of my puppy owners 9well she's 2 1/2) lives by the Wye and posted a lovely picture of their village that looked like a lake, but fortunately they are high enough not to have the actual house flooded.

my poor friend is currently homeless after last weeks floods she had nearly 3ft water in her house. Insurance company is replacing everything on the ground floor and she is going to be out for about 6 months :( poor tings had only moved in two weeks before. She lives in Tonbridge in kent. Just hope the new storms don't make it worse

The upside is she hadn't done much to it yet so now she will have things all nice and  new. New kitchen white goods sofas carpets etc. We keep telling her its the silver lining to keep her spirits up.
Hope you all stay safe

We're not in a danger zone but the roads are pretty dodgy, already seen a car on it's roof via traffic cameras near the Forth Road Bridge.
I have to drive later to pick Daisy up from the vets ( split nail ) hopefully the roads will still be open ,but we do get trees down across the road with alarming frequency.

I note that Bude is one of 4 'at serious risk' on the TV.   However I had a vet appointment across town at 10 am this morning (debated whether to cancel or not but I wanted the staples out).   All I saw at the lowest point in town, were the usual sandbags across the doorways of the properties down there.   No apparent sign of any flooding having happened.   We've high winds and the occasional thrashing rain with thunder and lightening, but so far on this part of the N.Cornwall coast, it's 'okay'.    I've not been near the shore line!!

Stay safe peeps.

Unfortunately my friend had the same (3 feet of water, sewage and manure) last year, and a second helping a month later.

She wasn't covered after having had a flood of a couple of inches about 15 years ago.

Many flood warnings here too. Luckily we live on a hill but several friends hve been affected. Terribly sad.

When will the idiots learn not to put themselves in harms way by going to the beach with the family to watch the incoming waves or to the swollen river to take photos??!!
