Thinking back on this, although we did more recently have one of our hounds treated for an ulcer, we had a puppy who, when the eyes first started to open, I noticed had one eye which was cloudy. She was treated by our vet with drops, but it blew into a really nasty mess, resulting in the eye having to be removed. It was only then that an abscess at the back of the eye was found. As she'd never really had the use of both eyes, once it all healed up, she was fine. We were going to sell her, but the woman who was interested started talking about getting a false eye - at which point we decided to keep her. Harmony (Minnie) lived out her days, to her 14th year, and was absolutely no trouble. I always felt I didn't really know her as she was obviously never shown so I didn't develop the close bond I had with those I did show, or bred from. She was just Minnie. The strange thing was after she passed, nobody would lie in her spot in front of the fire, for a long time. It was almost as if her presence was still there even if she wasn't obviously dominant, in life.
Hopefully the drops will sort out the eye problem with your puppy.
