Hi all im new to this forum, can anybody help us out with the correct pedigree software to get, im looking at creating our own 5yr pedigree certificates due to us using imported dogs the kennel club list these as unknown registered sire & dam in there pedigrees and will cost a small fortune to get the information from overseas kennel clubs and then for the uk kennel club to list them. We have searched the internet and have found the dogs to fill in the gaps and now wanting to create our own with using the right tool to do so.

ive come across breed mate but unsure of what you can actually do on it.

any help would be very appreciated.

Kintraks is good and very affordable.

Hi Roxijak

I have Breeders Assistant for Dogs which is excellent but expensive to buy and I am still learning my way around it.  You can add pedigrees you have researched,  print pedigrees, make up trial pedigrees for potential litters,  COIs and many other things. You can get a free trial.

I hadn't heard of Kintraks as mentioned by KaneFizz and went onto their site and then onto ebay as they are sometimes sold there. One is available to bid on at the moment. The full price is considerably less than Breeders Assistant.  Also you can get a free trial.

I've got Kintraks and I love it, so easy to use, prints nice pedigrees, can work out the COI of breeding and very affordable.

Setterlover, ive had a look at the tenset website this particular software looks as if you get a lot more stuff for your money, there was one thing im a bit worried about tho it listed a load of dogs that the software meets the criteria for and my breed (bullmastiff) isn't listed, could you be so kind to check for me please? Don't wanna buy a download copy to find out it doesn't support my breed lol

thanks Roxijak

I have used Breeders Assistant for years and years -can't even remember when I started but it was before I married my second husband whom I have been married to for ten years now. I'd be lost without it. :) You can add whatever you want, add breeds and colours (but ALL KC breeds will be in there from the start) remove ones that you have no interest in, you can customise however you want. I save absolutely everything in mine, not just pedigrees but health tests, names, addresses, e-mails and phone numbers of puppy buyers, other breeders etc, photos, note down date of death and cause for dogs, health test results so they show on the pedigrees, microchip numbers, absolutely anything of interest.

I had Breedmate but my then computer crashed and not having backed it up, I lost the LOT.   And I do mean a lot because I'd input, together with my husband, all the hard copy Breed Records I have going back to the mists of time together with American bloodlines too.   Gutted.   Since then I use the online Pedigree Database and have put in the background of most of my hounds back to my foundation hounds, with pictures were I have them.   It's a bit difficult to use, but once you get used to it, okay.

I'm still upset at losing all the work, but now I'm retired, it's nt so important as it once was.

Glad to hear that people out there still like researching pedigrees - so many these days just take their bitches to the top winning male, regardless!!    And we are surprised about all the problems in (some) purebred dogs!!!

Sorry, been offline for a few days. I have about 50,000 pedigrees on my Breeders Assistant but not all are complete, and by that I mean a 5 generation pedigree, but many go back many more generations than that.

We have someone in the breed who has 76508 pedigrees and they are available online:

http://www.hooley-irish-setters.co.uk/search.html  and  type in Caskeys Concept as a named dog and then play around.

I'll check out the Bullmastiffs and get back.

I had Breeders Assistant and found it very good but am now without a PC and it doesn't work on an Ipad sadly.

Hi Roxijak

I'm not sure if I am telling you the truth or not but I believe the original pedigrees came from another database, possibly KC,  and then they stopped updating their database and that might be why there are no  Bullmastiff pedigrees.  However if you ring  0870 870 7740, which is Breeders Assistant, there is, apparently, a very helpful person who will be able to answer any questions.
