A friend in Australia has asked if I would keep a pup she is buying from Europe next year until shes old enough to travel to her.
We are debating whether to put the pup in my name initially and register her with the KC here so I'd be able to show her, or if we would be able to have her in joint names (or are there any other options)? I would transfer the pup back into her name only when she leaves here.

Any thoughts/ideas?

You can have a foreign co-owner and transfer it completely to the Australian person when it is exported out of the UK.

If the dog is owned by someone in Australia why not register dog with new owners name in country in which it is bred then apply for an ATC number ? That way registration of ownership is correct

If the dog is resident in the UK an ATC cannot be issued, if the dog is registered with the FCI & the owner is in Australia the dog cannot be registered in Australia until it reaches Australia. I don't know if the FCI would transfer a dog to an Australian owner when the dog is resident in the UK. Easier to register the dog with the KC with an Australian owner whilst resident in the UK. No need for the dog to be in partnership as long as the person in the UK has the owner's written permission to enter & show the dog in the UK

Good thinking Tommee I think that's what we'll do. I just wasnt sure if the KC will take an Australian address but I can put the owners name C/O my address.

Shouldn't be a problem registering to overseas owner.   Transferred a dog I bred into ownership of person living in Canada prior to export. The export pedigree had to be issued in name of new owner so transfer had to be done first.

maybe sensible especially if you want to enter champ shows, as you will want the passes to be sent to you.
