As subject says ,
My daughter is picking up her new pup very soon & we have been suggesting names,it is a large breed, a male,
The only name that interested her was Midnight,
Now my D. I. L. has rescued a cat & his name is Midnight,so that has upset the apple cart,
Do any off you know of unusal not too of the wall names that I can now suggest.
Hopefully he will be black with red features,so any thing to do with a colour perhaps,
I am now looking forward to lots off good suggestions from some very doggy people .Thanking you in advance .

Raven
Or the welsh version Bran (long 'a' as in barn)
Sorry no suggestions on name but nothing could sound as daft as calling in a cat called Baggy Pants.
Aha. I used to know someone with a big black dog called Bran but his owner never explained why. I thought it strange to call a dog after a cereal but now it all makes sense. She did call him Bran like Bran not like Barn though.

Jet...

She can surely call her dog Midnight as well if she wants? They can just say 'my Midnight' or 'Midnight cat'. Like at my dog club where we have 2 Lucy humans and 1 Lucy dog!
She is still very Midnight minded at the moment & as she wont be taking pup anywhere near the cat ,dont think that will be a problem,I liked Flame but she thinks its a stripper name !!!! I think that it was too her mind a "different name ",so was dissapointed that a close family member had the name as well.Although as a rescue cat d.i.l. really did not have a choice as he was already named .
A boy she lost 3 years ago Brady has had his name pinched by her bro for his youngest child as well lol ,

My OH had a friend whose Scottish mother said she was quoting Robbie Burns when she said:
It's a blech nichkt echk.
It's supposed to be "It's a black night out" and I tried to write it the way it sounded to us. I could never find anything remotely resembling this as a line from one of his writings but it struck us that the nichkt part, which sounds like Nick, would make a good name for a black cat we took in. He'd been named Pitch and I think our Vet clinic, which was his rescue home, had us in mind as his owners from the start and named him Pitch to go with our Lab Jet. Pitch black and Jet black. But pitch was hard to say.
Maybe you need the personal association to make it work but how about
Nick?

My dog's brother was called Soren.. he was a black dog, what about Onyx, Inka or Bear?
Sorry Jodi, I didn't see you'd already suggested that name {embarrassed} :-)

I'll forgive you, (wags finger, big grin)

Noc = polish for Night pronounced Notz.
Or Polnoc = Midnight, pronounced poo - notz, LOL :)

or soren, jet and shadow,i ll ask you all to sort me out a name next time i need one, your suggestions are brilliant!if the lady still likes midnight, maybe starlight would do.
I am sending all suggestions over to my daughter, she is blanking me at the mo ,doing her head in, she only has a week till she gets him so pehaps its best to see what she thinks once she has him home & see whats fits .
I like Soren, but my favorit is Merlin,so evey list I send to her has a Merlin in it.lol
