hi my friend has a bull terrier who should have had a season at the end of dec
However there were no signs and she went into kennels over the xmas week .
She is now decidley fat !
can she have had a season without any one knowing ??
Can she have been 'caught' in the kennels ???
If she has - when would the pups be due ??
and could there be other reasons for her not to have a season and then now be swollen ???
any advice ??
Liz :)

Hello liz

I lost your e mail addy for some reason. I cant think of anything else that could cause the weight and lack of season. I dont know a great deal about the other possible medical problems that this breed are susceptible to. Marie may be able to advise or (I think its) Sharon from bullywood kennels would know much more than me.
Sorry I cant help anymore. I hope she hasnt been caught in the kennels, as it could be anything that caught her. Dont know what the legal position is either. They would need to prove that it happened in the kennels and not before or after as the kennels are likely to say.

Well she should not have had the opportunity to get caught in kennels, uless she was kenneled or excersised with other dogs. This can be checked by contacting the Kennel.

It is possible for a bitch to have a silent season, and to be mated, and have pups, but you should have noticed any resident male showing more than usual interest, and the same on walks.

She could be having a phantome preganancy, have qa womb infection, or have just got fat from overeating (possibly fed too much in kennels).

I would get the vet to look at her if she is behaving listlessly, drinking more than usual,or just to put your mind at rest.

Tricky one.

There are such things as "silent seasons" where they seem to happen without anyone being aware, so theoretically it is possible she was in season. If she was, and if she was mated while in kennels, any pups would be due 9 weeks afterwards...so if she was mated on Dec 25th, she'd be due Feb 26th.

I should see she gets taken to a vet. He'll be able to say if she's in whelp or not, and then your friend will know where she stands.

Hope this helps.

Please god not demon Doberbulls :D ;) :p !!!! I think if Murphs is the culprit, it'll be pretty pbvious when they're born (the tan eyebrow markings may give it away slightly eh ???)

That's the reason I had the poor mock done, we have entire female labs next door and I didn't want to risk unleasing a whole new generation of demon Doberdors :D ;) :)

Hehehehehehehe...

Me x

Hi,
let us know how she goes on.
Bull Terriers aren't the best mothers in the world, NOT usually agressive but just very immature in their outlook. They and their pups need full time round the clock care, no cutting corners with this breed! Not if you want the pups to survive.
Hope this bitch hasnt been mated, makes one terrified of using kennels!
And people wonder why I have never had a holiday for years.......
all the best
Sharon
