Topic Dog Boards / Health / Red spotty rash?

I was wondering if any one else has a dog with this problem?, my 18month old dog has a red spotty rash from her neck all the way down to the inside of her back legs, it's down her chest ect, she's not off her food or itching and other than this rash she's still her normal bouncy self, i'm undecided as to should i take her to vet or just leave it down to a heat rash maybe?

It might be an idea to have her checked as I had a GSD young dog with a rash under her tum and inside her back legs. My vet said it was heat etc, but it didn't go away, in fact it became infected in places. They then did a scrape and it was demodex. So worth a check up if it doesn't go away of seems to get worse. It could be the heat but it could also be something else

sillysue.

Found your post from some months ago re demodex, can I ask what treatment was given & did your GSD improve?
Thank you, Lacy

Hi Lacy,
No my GSD had severe Demodex and immunity problems, in fact she was allergic to everything. She was born with it and after years of horrible treatment and non stop ABs etc she was sent to the rainbow aged 6years. Dear girl, she was gentle and loving to the end.
However I have since had a Patterdale with the Demodex and this was a normal treatment with Aludex and she was over it in 6 weeks, so not all Demodex is as bad as my GSD had, it was just that she had other problems as well and it was incurable for her.
Another friend had her dog diagnosed with Demodex last week and is using sprays and baths and is getting better daily, so with most cases it is easily treatable - just inconvenient and messy.
