Could someone please inform me as to whether these two breeds of dog are compatible with one and other. I really want a Mal and the wife would love a Sam, but i dont want to be in the situation of giving one up if they dont get on with each other. Any information anyone has would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

My first dog was a sammy (male) and when he was 4 years old we got a malamute girl. They got on superbly with hardly a squabble. I would recommend one of each sex as a better combination as same sex spitz can be difficult.

When our Samoyed Tasha had pyometra at the age of 5 she was quite depressed and listless after her hysterectomy we got our first Malamute boy and they loved each other to bits. She died at nearly 10 years old but I am convinced without him she would have gone earlier, she also had arthritis from an early age.
Male/female combination (birth control required) is fine but two of the same sex could cause conflict. Believe it or not two bitches are worse than two males. Two pups of the same age is hard work and a gap of 12 months is easier to cope with but the two breeds sharing a home should be rewarding.
Good Luck,
Jenny & The Wintersperre Gang.
