I am asking on behalf of someone else: what would you recommend as a good quality complete wet food for cats? She is not keen to do DIY raw as is concerned about getting the balance right with the taurine need etc. I have heard people talking about pre-mixed raw such as nutriment or NI, also wondered about the natures menu pouches? (a pouched food would be ideal as the most convenient for her) affordability is also an issue but she is willing to pay more than currently (on whiskas pouches ATM) for a better food. He is on thyroid pills ( still struggling with the balance) and needs to regain/maintain as much muscle as possible.

thanks!

The best cheap supermarket food is without a shadow of a doubt Butcher's Classic. That has 49 % meat compared to the 4 % of most other supermarket cans. You can usually get a pack of 12 cans on special offer for £5 so it's extremely good value.

The Natures Menu pouches are excellent, over 70 % meat, but of course work out a lot more expensive, especially depending on where they are bought etc. I get them together with my mince order on a breeder account with a discount and end up paying roughly 50 p per pouch.

Natures Menu also does a complete raw frozen food for cats, that is quite seriously expensive but there's no doubting the quality. Likewise Natural Instinct is good but very expensive indeed. Also Applaws cans or pouches, superb quality (you're talking over 90 % pure meat) but expensive.

Personally I'd be happy with any of these or indeed a mixture -for instance using Classic as well as one of the higher meat content expensive ones can make it a bit cheaper in the long run, and Classic is easier to get hold of.

What about something like the Forthglade range?

Ive just bought some ni to try my cats on . It cost £5.00 per kg each cats weighs just under 4kg so I am starting them on 80gram per day (2%body weigh roughly) which is 6 days for the two if that helps with costs

had some success with Bently the moggie but precious princess Lotus burmese just turned her nose up. Wish I had done this as kittens

Belated thank you for the info!
I have passed it on, just wondering though, she did get some canned Applaws the other day and he loved it but on reading the can it says that it is NOT a complete food? ie only complimentary. Do you feed the canned alone with nothing else added?

If it's complimentary, he will need something else, I feed mine a complimentary and a kibble.
Applaws do a kibble too, so he may like that.

Knew I had seen this but couldn't remember where. My cats are raw fed at home with a little can food so they are used to it when they go to the cattery.

I feed Animonda Carny Bozita and Cosma from Zooplus but would like an easily available tinned as a stop gap. Mine have Applaws kibble as treats Piper goes mad for it!!!
