Depends on how many numerical the breed attracts & if it is an open or championship show

My personal experience over the years is if you shall have a chance in either AV or AVNSC you need a glamorous breed with plenty of coat. Hence I never bother much these days and stay in breed classes where I know I can do well.

Thanks for the replies so far. Was thinking as my 12 month old beat 13 and 15 months old yesterday in AV :)

Our breed does well in AV classes especially in the same group. 

Maybe because they being Spitz are unlike any of the other scent or sighthound breeds, except for the Finnish Spitz and maybe even Basenji.

I have never understood why the japs never get anywhere in anything, yet a lot of the other Spitz breeds are always pulled out.
