My 5 year old Rough Collie was not his usual self yesterday so took him to the vet to be checked out .
He has got a temp so has been given antibiotic to bring temp down . He was thoroughly checked over so just hope he gets back to his normal self over next couple of days .

My vet won't give antibiotics if he can't find the problem.  What did your vet give as the reason for them being needed?

Hi just said antibiotic to bring temp down and wants to check him tonight and give another lot of antibiotics as said one dose won't be enough ?
This morning my boy is his normal self so u don't think he needs anymore antibiotics ?
He did worry me as he was panting a lot and didn't seem right and as I lost a collie 6 years ago to tetanus at 11 months .

You do need to complete a course of antibiotics, it's important that you give the meds chance to work.  I just wondered what the vet thinks they are for.

Animals can have an elevated temperature just because of the stress of going to the Vets. :(

Yes that is true . When i arrived at the vets the receptionist asked if i could just walk my boy into a side room for a few minutes as there was an aggresive dog about to come in . So glad i have a sweet natured dog !

I'm glad that you are sounding less stressed now that he has improved.  :-)
