Met one of these today lovely dogs. Has anyone else seen them or know about them

I looked into them last year, they look ideal don't they ?, there seem to be be very very few in the UK though.

The owner imported her from italy as there sems to be only one breeder in the uk and she wasnt having puppies at the time. She was nervous but that was understandable as we were at a game fair amd it was her first experience of crowds the owner certainly was very positive. yes sound ideal but do have as you wold expect high prey drive.

Funny, I first learned of the breed a couple of weeks ago.  I was browsing the humane society ads and apparently a whole litter needed rescuing in Ontario and there was one left.  My first thought was, if they are so rare here how come a litter ends up in rescue?  There was one left.  I did notify the breed club and they confirmed and said they already knew about them.

There certainly is more than one breeder, I believe there is a breed club.

A friend of mine has 3. None of them are what I'd call nervous. Her male is very outgoing and wants to play with everyone / thing!

same as the ones I have met, very outgoing, they they are very trainable and obedient for a hound.

Know someone is going to point out all of the differences, but they remind me of pharaoh hounds.

:-)  Me too!
They are not hairy enough for me though!  I like something to groom.

"It is the smallest of the Mediterranean island hunting hounds, the others being the Pharaoh Hounds and Ibizan Hounds." quote from wiki
I think the only reason this one was a bit nervous was that she was very young and was in a very busy environment. The owner said she was normally quite outgoing,Sweet little girl
Was very taken and am getting interested in hounds eg greyhounds whippets but a long way off yet my three are fit and healthy and long may it last :) and no room at the inn just now

I'm smiling at that comment.  :-)

One CD'er has her signature as
"How many" and I smile every time I read it.

I only have six, but everyone who sees me out thinks I am the mad dog lady, and goes crikey, that's a handful.

I answer that the power steering (head-collars) are a great help.

Don't know how to do a smiley face, so I'll just say LOL.

I think a lot of us know that one.  I'm fairly certain that people think I'm potty!  I recently had some work done on my front drive.  The lead guy was surprised that he could hear no barking when they were working outside.  I took out a Beardie for him to see.  Then a Yorkie, and lastly a Chi, the one that dances.  He looked utterly bemused.  How many have you got he said.  The shock on his face was a picture when I told him.

He pulled himself together and said "You must be barking!"  As if I haven't heard that one before!

Years ago down at the caravan I brought my dogs back off the beach and walked them on a grassy tump without leads back to the caravan.  I didn't stop to think about it at the time, but I now know that the Beardie headed the gang, followed by my Border Collie, followed by my cross breed, medium sized.  Next came a Yorkie, followed by a Chi.  So many people stopped in their tracks to watch the procession.  I heard a guy say "Blimey, she's got one in every size!"

I think the only reason I come on Champdogs, is so that I can feel normal!  :-)  :-)  :-)
