Hi guys. Problems with Barney have settled and things are getting much better. Problem now is the sofa!!
Got a new sofa which is very sligghtly lower than the old one and since Ive got it the cat loves it and Barney constantly jumps up on it and yet hes never been allowed on our sofas?
Not sure what it is thats drawn both animals to it. Barney wont listen and even when Im sat on it he jumps up with his front paws and ends up biting me!
I no some of this is his separation anxiety which is a little more under control but I really dont no how to handle it for the best. I no I should ignore him but cant when hes biting and pawing at me and its not always convenient to stand up so he "drops" off.
any ideas?

Not sure if I am right but my flat coat does this so I say off take her feet off the sofa and then only touch look or speak to her when all four paws are on the ground. It has been hard work but we have no progressed to occasional paws which I then turn away give the command and then stroke her when she where I want her. Sometmes you can see her think about it and remove her paws as I am ignoring her or she might go to put her paws up and then stop. We are getting there but it has taken a while and I made the mistake of petting her when her paws were up which was silly
