confused.com! have read on various post and sites when to give herpes jab and there are some differences.  Just rung my vet who says 1 to 2 weeks before mating whereas others seem to say after mating?  So when is the best time?

Not much point giving it before mating in case the mating doesn't take place!

Schedule of dosage is below from NOAH website.

Two 1-ml doses of vaccine, administered by subcutaneous route, according to the following schedule:

First injection: Either during heat or 7 - 10 days after the presumed date of mating.

Second injection: 1 to 2 weeks before the expected date of whelping.

Revaccination: during each pregnancy, according to the same schedule.

I'd get the vet to look at the manufactures label as the instructions for whatever brand they may have will be on there.

Merial Eurican Herpes 205 is the only brand of Canine Herpes Virus vaccine on the market.

I agree,my bitch is never predictable with her seasons,so I wouldn't be able to book the jab before any mating,makes alot more sense to do it just after.

7 days after mating 7 days prior to whelping worked fine for all my litters

My girl got her jab booked for tomorrow evening,taking no chances!

Is there any jabs you can get for a stud dog,incase he mates a bitch that might have the virus?,as I don't want my boy to catch anything from any bitch.
