I have a 12 week old husky,I am taking her out with my 11 yearold curlycoated retriever who is so well behaved its unbelievale,my question is whats best for the puppy,my older boy has a slip lead and after a few days training at about 5 months old I had no problems with pulling,I visited a large wholesale pet store today who advised me to get her a harness,my thoughts have always been by using a harness gives a dog more power to pull,I will for the whole part taking the 2 dogs out together,so I don't want one pulling and the other walking at the side of me,if she does have to have a harness I will have to take them out seperately,I don't mind doing this ,but by taking the 2 out together she is having a great recall whilst off lead, sorry it's been a little long but I want whats best for our girl

In my experience a harness has only ever encouraged my dogs to pull more. How about a halti or head collar? I have used them before but generally stick with a collar and lead.

It's all about training.  None of my dogs wear anything other than a harness, and the only two that pull are Rai and Phoebe - and they do it through stress so it wouldn't matter what I used.  If you use a headcollar you should really only use it alongside a harness anyway - if the dog suddenly pulls then damage can be done, and a harness gives backup in that situation (as well as helping to balance the dog or help keep them straight while they are learning to walk sensibly, as their back end can't swing out).
