What are you trying to achieve - do you have a specific issue or concern you wish to address?
I like salmon oil too - it's a great all round option for skin and coat. I buy it in liquid form from Fish4Dogs but it's fairly widely available from dog food suppliers...
No just a helping hand wanted really to keep the coat healthy, thought it wouldn't harm and wanted to know which was the best, might as well try the oil then.
Cod liver oil has a high Vitamin A content so would not use regularly as in high concentrations can have health implications. Fish body oils are rich in omega 6+ 3 so as a general supplement have more to offer IMHO
Fish oils deplete the body of vitamin E, so many will recommend you supplement with vit E as well. It's a stored vitamin so doesn't need to be given daily. I also use salmon oil as opposed to CLO, it is healthier :)
You can get vitamin e capsules at health shops or online; I get mine from Holland and Barrett, it should be natural vitamin e not synthetic (will say on the bottle), and my 13kg and 23kg dogs get 200iu once a week(ish), my 33kg dog gets 400iu. Don't apologise, it's good to ask! It's always worth doing a bit of reading anyway though, and there's a fair bit on google about fish oils and vitamin e for dogs :)
Thanks for the reply, I have read up on these but TBH its all mixed so thought I would be better off asking here, right will pop and pick some up, another question sorry but would it be one capsule for my 5kg dog but will mature to around 7kg ?
Dose for the weight he is now, you don't want to give too much vit e either! Get the smallest capsules you can for such a teeny dog, I know they make 100iu capsules. In fact I probably wouldn't give any more than that at 7kg either.
