This is my fourth GR and the other three were never interested in the telly, but this one sits and watches it with a lot of attention even when we first bought her home at eight weeks. She is now allowed into the lounge with the much bigger screen and she can hardly tear herself away. Apart from a Sheltie we had when I was a child, this is the first dog that has been so interested. Anyone else have telly obsessed dogs?

My girl watches tv as a pup her fav program was bargain hunt. She doesn't like programs with scary barking dogs on it. She isn't as fussed any more but will watch it for a bit.

I've just discovered she is particularly keen on watching videos of herself on the iPad, the little diva.

One of mine loves wildlife programes. Daft dog sits right in front of the tv so no one can see the screen.

This is my third GR and the first one that loves tv, she was fascinated with the donkey on shrek lol. I put it down to TVs being so much bigger and it's great fun watching her watch the rugby

Oh yes!  My younger dog, my sixth, is the only one who's shown any interest in TV - he likes wildlife programmes, and programmes with dogs in them.  He has now given up trying to look behind and under the set when he hears a dog bark, he just barks back at it :) .  He enjoyed watching Crufts, and I've a photo of him standing up with his paws on the TV table to get a closer look at the "Dancing Dogs".

He is, and has been since quite small, able to see (and (appear to) admire) his reflection in the windows, sits in front of the oven door to look at himself, but is not so sure about the dog that lives behind the glass in the gas fire!

My first dog used to spy on us by looking at our reflections in the mirrored edges of the gas fire. Sometimes we'd wave at her and she'd look round at us with a big grin LOL

A couple of mine love the tele and it's always getting covered in doggy nose prints. They like animal programs best :)

My pup was watching a dog walk across the screen the other day and then walked around the back of the tv to see where it had gone - I am sure they all do that at some time!  My adult dog totally ignores it now except when there is a whistle - she lies across in front of the speaker and doesn't react to any noise - gun shots, thunder - she knows it is not real.  Pup also starts alarm barking when he sees reflections in the glass doors at night.

A friend's small dog used to watch Match of the Day with his nose pressed on the screen following the ball :)

One of my cats, Mungo, is quite keen on the telly, usually if there are tweety birds on, he'll sit right in front of the screen.
Best one I knew of was a friends BC, he loved watching horse racing and would run and lick the screen when any of the horses fell ! lol .
I seem to remember reading somewhere ,that modern tellys are easier for animals to make sense of because of the increased resolution.

All my Goldens have loved TV. My boy thought cricket was an aggressive game and would 'tell them off' if they raised a bat! He didn't approve of soldiers at all, but just had to watch them.  I found out from his breeder that from a very young age, she had put on videos of the pups playing, for the litter to watch! He was a great pacifist and once stopped a young couple who were having an argument in the street! They laughed so much at him interfering, I think they forgot what they were arguing about!  :)

My current Golden girl particularly likes to watch 'Big Barn Farm' with the grandchildren and will watch an entire program of 'One Man and his Dog' amongst other things. The Flatcoats mostly watch a little but seem to lose interest- except Lucie- when she was younger she used to love watching Crufts.

Both of my two will watch tv but they hate the spec savers advert with the sheep and the sheared sheepdog. They only have to hear the start of the music and they run to the tv barking. They can be outside when it comes on and they come tearing in, no idea why they just pick that one. Our old bitch used to sit in front of the tv and stare at us if she wanted something.

My dogs aren't allowed to watch TV - too many unsuitable programmes and they are better off having exercise outdoors. They also don't own a Playstation or any other gaming devices :-)

Good point - I sometimes feel that I should censor his viewing for the good of the species (Homo Sapiens, that is) so that he doesn't learn how daft humans can be ;) .
