My daughter starts her nhs job on 3rd October - will she get paid at the end of October or have to wait until end of November (ouch) ? She is in the clerical department.

From what I remember of civil service pay, which I think it may come under, she would get three weeks pay, but that was sometime ago and may well have changed.

She will get paid at the end of October

I will tell her as someone told her she wouldn't get pay until end of November!

She's better off asking the HR/Personnel dept when she starts.
As Payrolls can have different cut off dates etc. for processing.

At least then she can be sure one way or the other when she can expect to receive some pay.

That's what I advised but she was worried about having 7 weeks without money & a mortgage and thought someone would know so she stops worrying.
Not long before she starts so she'll just have to wait & then check.

If she is being paid by the Clinical Commissioning Group then it should be what I have said

If it is by a secondary trust then it maybe different but I would doubt it.

Your daughter will be paid at the end of October the trust I work for pay date is 28th every month

I think that the point is that companies often have a cut-off point earlier in the month and if your details haven't been input into the payroll system by that date, you don't get paid (you get what you are owed the next month). My son started a new job in June, but he didn't get paid until the end of July because he missed the cut-off date - fortunately he has a wife that works :) :)

Cut off is normally mid month but if she doesn't get on to the payroll she can be paid via a supplementary payroll run or via a bs s transfer

Yes :) I should have added that there is usually a way of getting some money - a 'loan' etc :) In private industry they aren't always so obliging :)

Thank you all
She rang HR on Monday and they said she would get normal pay at the end of October, they have all bank details and she starts on 3rd October.
