Hi
I am a Border Collie fan, and have recently aquired a new pup, he is 4 months old. I would like to have a go at showing him. I have no idea what's involved though having done only agility and flyball in the past so any advice would be great. Also on classes to attend?
He is a Red Merle, KC and ISDS registered. Rough Coated.

Whereabouts in Warwickshire?
Leamington Dog Training Club holds ringcraft classes, to teach you and your dog showing procedure, on Wednesday evenings at the KC building, Stoneleigh, if that's any help.

Thanks. I'm near Atherstone. Can the shorter haired type be shown or is it long coated ones only?

The breed standard allows for rough or smooth coats, however you will rarely see a smooth coated BC in the ring as the fluffy show coat is the preferred type for the show ring(& I do mean fluffy as opposed to the rough coated working coat the more coat the better sadly for the show ring)

I go to ringcraft at Leamington Dog Training Club on Wednesday nights. At kennel club building at Agricultural Centre, Stoneleigh. It's really good. Plenty of advice and they have pseudo shows for practice. Costs £5.00 to join and £2.00 per week for classes. Starts at 8pm. Hope this helps.
