Oh dear what a muddle I am sure it will all work out for the best. How long have you been away from work or not in work? and are you returning full time?

I will be in the same boat shortly I have just i.e. Tuesday had knee surgery and will be off for at least 8 weeks so I will be in a nice routine with Bella and not sure she will appreciate me returning to work then...

Nearly ten months!! The dogs are fine with the change as we have a great dog walker and daycare to start next week but i miss them!

I feel the same Inka, at the weekend I'll be away overnight, Daisy will be fine, her most favourite person in the world is staying over , so she probably won't miss me one little bit, but this is the first time I've ever spent the night away from her, and I'll be suffering separation anxiety.

I'm smiling at that!  Whenever I've had a bitch to stay, and the owner is worried about their bitch pining, I always say the same thing.  You will miss her far more than she will miss you.  I always take visiting bitches to bed with me, I then know exactly how they are acting.

I've only ever had one bitch that was distressed and she was demented.  The owner was not happy that I phoned her to ask her to collect her bitch.  She wanted to know if I could just make her bitch mate!  Her bitch wasn't ready, but I was then told that the bitch slept in kennels with her GSD's.  The poor thing was missing her mates, not her owner.

However, I took my bitch to be mated, and it was a long old drive, so we agreed that she would stay for a week.  Bear in mind, I had already been shown the stud dog owners bedroom and dog beds by the side of her bed.  And stayed a few hours, so knew my bitch was totally happy.  Yet, as soon as I arrived home, I phoned to see if my girl was ok, as I was already missing her.  :-)

I always worry less about leaving them (they are usually at home with family) but I hate it when they leave me!  I really do not like my house without the dogs in it.  I can manage if they are out for a walk with my husband but if we've ever had to put them in kennels or they've been staying with friends and we have a night at home before collecting them it's horrid.

My daughter often takes a deep sniff of the dogs (in a bone crunching type of hug), breathes them in, then declares this is what home is - the smell of dog...  Charming!  Although I know what she means, it's not a doggy smell in the house, but their distinctive outdoorsy, grassy, sweet earth smell that feels like coming home :)  She's 17 and just told me that I can't ever expect her to leave home without the dogs - guess she's staying home for a good few years yet then

I have a plaque hung up in the house.  It says A House is not a Home without a DOG.   Know what you mean exactly.  :-)
