Iv been talking to someone who showed a young puppy in norway today whome became BIR, I don't have a clue what that means any ideas?

Beste In Rasse (sp) = Best of Breed.  Best opposite sex is BIM.

CAC or CC or CERT or Certificat

This is the "point" you  need to get a championtitle. In Scandinavia you  need 3 CAC to get a championtitle, in other countries you need different numbers, for example in Germany its 5 CAC.



CACIB

This is the "point" you need to get the International championtitle. You need 4 CACIB, in at least 3 different countries, from at least 3 different judges. There havs to be more than one year between the first one and the last one before you can apply to FCI that confirms that the dog is an International Champion.



CH = Champion.

The country code is before the CH and today its often the same as in the internetworld, like SE is Sweden, FI is Finland etc.



Sometimes there is another letter like U ( utställning=show) involved and in Sweden SUCH is for example Swedish Show Champion J (jakt=hunting)  and the its SJCH, Swedish Hunting Champion and so on. This could fill a whole page so no more info about this.

EUW            European Winner (+ year)

EEW            Estonian Winner ( +year)

CPHW          Copenhagen Winner (+year and also KBHV)

Etc.

Many breeds (like my own, most gundog and hunting breeds) can't get the champion title without working qualifications.

And in breeds like mine you have to pass a character test. There is also no such thing in Sweden as simply a Champion, the dog is always something specific. Eg. it is a show champion (SUCH) or obedience champion (SLCH) etc, you can never, like here, remove the word "show" from the show champion title by passing the relevant working tests, the tests have to be passed by some breeds anyway but the word show remains. And the letters SE are never used in Champion titles, always just S (or just N for Norway).

Just don't get me onto our Kennel club taking away credit for the working titles of imports and dogs in our pedigrees and calling show champions, Champions, but not accepting working titles and dogs with both hunting and show titles as dual champions.

Their argument was that the hunting titles didn't equate to any equivalent here.
