Not sure if it's excessive but it's certainly increased in my 8 year old labrador.  He was unwell on New Years Day and admitted to the vets, put on a drip and all seemed fine after that, no explanation, just seemed to recover.  He had fat lumps x 3 (one large) removed more recently and since then he's gone downhill.  He's lost weight and more recently drinking more, this week he's started peeing his bed too in the morning something he's never done before.

He's in for an appointment tomorrow but I'm so worried about him as he's such a lovely boy.

Lesley I would ask for full round of bloods and also try and get a pee sample to take with you.

At least then they can rule things out and see if it is something as simple as an infection. Let us know how you and Biscuit get on x

Would also have blood tests done to check the organ functions.

Full work up at the vets needed. My old lady was just not 100% initial bloods were inconclusive but she started drinking more and as a result peeing more too. Repeat blood have demonstrated kidney failure. There are other causes of increased thirst but blood tests should help point to diagnosis

My initial thought is diabetes, getting a urine sample means they can dipstick it for protein, blood, glucose etc. while waiting for the blood results to come back.

Hope you get a quick diagnosis and treatment
