I know this subject has been talked about frequently and there have been suggestions about adding various things to the diet to stop the poos being so 'edible' but how do you stop this if it is other dogs poos that your dog prefers.
My beagle loves finding and eating the poos of my other 5 dogs even though we clear up twice a day she still manages to find some in a bush or behind the tree that we missed. We are pulling our hair out to find the poo before she does, but her big Beagle nose tends to know when there is one being 'done' and is there waiting before we have a chance to get there ourselves.
The trouble is she is eating less and less of her proper food as I suppose she is full up with poo. Ooh pass the bucket !!!
Any ideas please....

You could try teaching a 'leave' command, but I feel your pain! I have 2 poo hunters, and the worst of it is that 1 in particular prefers to scavenge poo he finds on walks that other owners haven't picked up. At least if he scavenged in the garden I would know it was poo from healthy, regularly wormed dogs, but god only knows what state the dogs whose poo he finds are in! He does know 'leave' but it only works when he's sniffing it, not once it's in his mouth. All I can do is try to watch what he's sniffing at, keep him regularly wormed, and feed him Dentastix so his breath is less foul!!

Sometimes you feel that you are the only one in this predicament, it helps to know that you are on the same wavelength as me. My dog will 'drop' if I see her pick it up, but she is crafty, I am sure she mentally records where they are, ignores them and then sneaks back when I am not there. I too use Dentastix for breath, but at least I know the dogs that the poos come from and know they are healthy and wormed, so I suppose that is a blessing. It just puts me off of her licking me when I hug her as I know exactly where her mouth has been !!!
I was hoping you would tell me that it will pass and is only a phase they go through, perhaps this is just wishful thinking. I have also found out she seems to prefer older ones that have dried out and are crispy, trouble is with this the slugs have been there first ( this is the dog that had lungworm ) so this could be the reason

I know people who have this problem and use a muzzle when out to prevent the dog picking it up.

Mine only eats her own poo, but does it then turns straight round and proceeds to eat it, I almost have to follow her around with a poo bag underneath her rear end to catch it as she does it! I agree it does put you off cuddles and licks, and the dentastix go straight through so can't use them as a breath freshener.

We have a large field and woods where the dogs run free, so it is very hard to find all their poos to pick up, so this is how she finds the few we may have missed. The land is ours so no other dogs run there thank goodness, but it is very hard to find every package they leave behind, but she does.

When Lucas was younger we often walked along our local beach, initially on the way out used to think 'what a good boy', but soon learnt he'd mentally logged every bit of edible filth so on the way back he'd lag a little behind & go into beach clearance mode. He will still eat the odd bit of poo, rabbit, fox, or dog but not nearly as much, difficult with a hound so close to the ground as don't know if he's just sniffing or lining up his next snack & I'd be telling him to 'leave' every time his nose hit the ground!

I'm afraid my main poo eater is now 11 and still just as bad - sorry! (yuck!!) And no, he is not allowed to give me kisses!

It helps to know others have the problem with their dogs.  Leave is one command that I'm really hot on.  But I have one dog who, before I even say leave,, she starts gobbling it all up really fast to avoid her prize being taken from her.
