Does anyone know a nice hotel near the sea in the I of w? I would like one near a beach where dogs are allowed in summer. Thanks

Sentry Mead (was a hotel but now B&B & believe they do bar snacks but there are plenty for good pubs around to eat), just down the road from us. West Wight is the rural end with stunning walks, some beaches are restricted durring the summer but many towards Brooke & Compton aren't.

Thanks for your help. I have booked sentry mead for bank holiday weekend. Looking forward to the lonely walks you have described. Just need to book ferry now.

Have you seen this? I haven't used it myself but it looks interesting.

The Isle of Wight appears to be keen to encourage dog owners to vist.  This is a useful holiday destination as dogs obviously do not need a pet passport. Wightlink, the company that owns the ferries between the mainland and the island, not only provides free ferry travel for dogs but  has produced a guide to dog friendly places on the island:

Lovely walks around the area  Near Alum Bay there is The Warren a  heath land  also from Alum Bay there is ample access to our wonderful downland . Brook beach is open to dogs all year round  Car park is expensive so park on the road also check the tides.Should you go to Brook when you get onto the beach go left then if tide is right you can walk for miles. Also near by is another lovely walk across Brook down  Free car parking here. Nr Brighstone is yet a further downland walk  again free car parking  also on this walk there is the Brighstone forrest walk. On the downland there may be cattle  On BROOK DOWN THERE ARE ALWAYS CATTLE they will have this seasons calves at foot so care should be taken  This is side of the Island that I live in . Hope you enjoy your stay PM me if any further help /knowledge required
