The breeder of my long awaited new male pup (who I pick up next week - sooooo excited!) has mis-spelt his name when registering it and although she is quite happy for me to make the change do I have to do this after adding my affix? The kennel club site where you download the relevant forms says that you can only add an affix if the name has not already been changed, but does that mean changing the spelling of an existing name too? I only want to take one letter out of one word. Sorry, never had this issue before just transferred ownership and added my affix.

In the UK, as I understand it, a dog can only have its name changed once in it's lifetime.
This would be either change of spelling or adding kennel name(affix). So you either leave spelling as it is, to add your kennel name or change the spelling but not add your kennel name.

I have bought in twice and changed names AND added my affix - I just sent both forms in the same envelope with the right money and crossed my fingers ;-)

Apart from one of them getting totally lost (well, apart from the cheque lol), they both got changed successfully.

Might try that then! If not I will just have to put up with the spelling,suppose at least now a lot of entries are online I wouldn't have to keep writing the damn thing! Not that I'm pedantic or anything...

I have recently done this, it has to be done within 3 months of the initial registering. You then change the name of the dog which is 30, then add your kennel name which is 15. so with transferring it into your name this will cost you 60!!!
