If anyone's about BBC Breakfast today (Sat) just after 09:00 has a news report and interviews regarding the DEFRA study's support of the failings of shock/ E collars.

The case for banning is surely cast iron now 😄
(But we knew that already!)

I am sure a very small minority will disagree but as a democratic country lets hope this gets through quickly now.

I will be more than happy to discuss this with a few of the shooting people around here that think they at acceptable tools because they are too lazy and don't have the skills to train their dogs.

He did a good job of sliding away from using the term " electric shock " .

Where is a link to the study results?  The link provided by HuskyGal is only the proposal for the study.

For those who are unfamiliar with these devices the term "shock collar" is very out dated.  Even here in N. America where use of such training aids, particularly amongst the field trialling enthusiasts, is more accepted (not totally) that term and any old collars to which it might really apply are not endorsed by most.  E-collars may be used with no shock at all, relying instead on tone or vibration.  Just like your mobile phone.  It would have been nice if the study proposal had addressed which would be used though perhaps that's in the results?

ETA:  Oh, sorry.  If it's in the Final Report at the bottom I can't open that.  Anybody got a direct link to it?

You only have to read the conclusions in 'behavioural responses' to ask why on earth would anyone want that to be their dog's experience!!!?

It's a shame we have to legislate for the lazy people but bring on the ban!

please note:

one of the NO votes is invalid ~ member contacted me to say they had clicked the no vote by accident
Unfortunately the poll cannot be edited (for obvious reasons!)
