Topic Dog Boards / General / Decent seat covers

Does anyone know where I could get a decent seat cover for the back seat? I've got this useless one http://www.petsathome.com/shop/rear-seat-fitted-cover-by-pets-at-home-24405 which is far too small for the back seat of my 2012 Yaris. How they call this universal fit I do not know.

I've seen this one which looks like it would give loads of protection but its just a silly price, £89.99 for a seat cover!
http://www.petcetera.co.uk/home-and-away/new-products-2009/maelson-cosy-roll-travel-blanket-80-6336.html

Has anyone found one that is any good but not as expensive? I got one in Argos before and it was absolutely pathetic! Again they were pretending it was universal fit, but it was far too small for the seat of an older Yaris I had that time. The seat cover was fully elasticated round the edges so it sprung off the seat.

I got one in Tesco but it always slid off. So now I use it along with the Pets at Home one. There must be something better though.

Ha ha It looks like I'm collecting dog seat covers!

I'll join you. I've been looking for front seat covers for my Toyota IQ. I flip the back seats down which makes a decent space for a dog, but the back of the front seats (which dogs find comfortable to lean on and stare out of the back window) is black and gets smothered in nice light coloured GR hair. I've been using some covers that came on some chairs we bought years ago and they are now beginning to give up the ghost. Apart from getting a black dog, I need not too expensive covers again.

Nooo! They look awful! I couldn't do that to my Yaris. I see they're a headrest short for 5 seats too.

Thanks for the link though, they may be useful to someone else

LOL I have them in my old Micra, and they don't look too bad. Dog hair doesn't stick, and they're mud and water proof.

I have Rhino front seat covers, brilliant things, I especially like them as the bit you sit on isn't shiny slidey nylon, which I hate, they are also waterproof, and can be made for side air bags.

I also have a hammock on the back seat, I can't remember the make, it might be a OTT, but Rhino make them too.

I've just ordered a hammock type cover from Amazon £19.99, but I won't be using it for a week or two anyway so won't be much help :) Hopefully it will be OK. We're getting a new car in a few months so will try this out on the old one first :)

I like the look of the Rhino ones. Thanks Celli

I got the ones for side air bags, which don't have a slidey seat, not sure about the others in the range.

Someone over on the Toyota Owners Club forum has just told me about seat covers that are coming into Lidl this week. I looked up the website and the seat cover looks the part - of course who knows how long it will last before shrinking! Its only £5.99 so maybe worth a look   http://www.lidl.co.uk/cps/rde/SID-562C628D-9F4A7E7A/www_lidl_uk/hs.xsl/our-offers-2491.htm?action=showDetail&id=3999
I must get one and see how it goes. Another one for the collection ;)
- By Celli [gb] Date 16.07.13 20:52 UTC
At £5.99, you can't go wrong really :)
- By Beachview [gb] Date 16.07.13 21:40 UTC
Exactly :)
- By newyork [gb] Date 17.07.13 04:33 UTC
and they are also having these too, http://www.lidl.co.uk/cps/rde/www_lidl_uk/hs.xsl/our-offers-2491.htm?action=showDetail&id=4004&ar=7

No I don't like those ones. I prefer something removable and for the back seat only. I like to keep the upholstery of the seats on display as its better looking than cheap seat covers (that stay on all the time). Thanks for posting the link anyway, someone else might like them :)

Got the Lidl dog seat cover and its a good fit, it would even fit much bigger cars too. The seats are well protected :) and I can take it off and stick it in the boot when I'm not using it

I got one of these years ago, and it lasted me a good couple of years in the Doblo as the bridge didn't strain the stitching around the headrests which is the first thing to go with the cheap  ones.
- By roscoebabe [gb] Date 18.07.13 17:44 UTC
I had a couple of the cheap ones and yes they do "go" around the head rest but if you have a sewing machine it's easy to reinforce the stitching with some heavy duty tape and once thats done the cover will last forever.
- By Brainless [gb] Date 18.07.13 18:20 UTC
I bought from here http://www.amazon.co.uk/Universal-Heavy-Duty-Front-Covers/dp/B000WIT2MM/ref=pd_bxgy_lp_text_b both front and back, but the back one does not cover the back of the seat so I used a single fitted sheet, and then the seat cover, which helped hold it in place.
- By Beachview [gb] Date 21.07.13 08:46 UTC
The one I got won't go round the headrest, I don't think so anyway. It doesn't go over the headrests but there is a strap that goes round the bottom of them instead.
