Topic Dog Boards / Health / Relieved- he pooped :)

It was 3 days since my elderly dog didn't goo poop.
I haven't walked him for awhile due to being 13 1/2 yrs old,
wonky back legs and totally blind. Boston Terrier

Last time I walked him he was very stiff in the back legs & sore & that was half a block. But thought
since he has not done a poop in 3 days & getting me worried I would try a walk
maybe getting things moving would help. Cause if this didn't work I was hoping the
liver with supper would or some mineral oil.

To my relief the walking worked & boy did he go, did about 2 blocks in total- now I am keeping to that. I walk him
with a harness on so I can hold him up better & need be I carry him. He seems very happy to be able
to go out must be the smells that he enjoys. :-)

I think the lil bit of exercise will keep him healthy as well- I just keep an eye on his legs.
He's my lil man :-)

Excercise will help get things moving , he will tell you when he has had enough and let him lead you rather than you lead him as it is one off pet hates seeing people drag oldies round :-(

At his age if he is showing signs of pain after excercise I am sure asking the vet for some anti inflammatory medication will be fine.

I keep him to the side of me at best cause I kinda lift him when we get close to a curb & tell him up- if I give
him way to much lead he zig zags all over & ends up hurting himself cause he tries to move to fast- silly boy.
This way I have more control over him and can help guide him. He does let me no when he has had to much
then I pick him up but he wiggles cause he wants down again to walk- lotsa smells for him.
