Hi everyone, just to let you know Bella delivered 5 beautiful pups last night - 3 boys and 2 little girls.
On Tuesday she was really restless all day and night, I thought it was going to happen but she settled eventually at about 6am. Later In the morning she was panting and still quite distressed so we went to the vet who examined her to make sure a puppy wasn't stuck and he recommended we come back later to see if there was any progress. Bella was quite chilled by this time and the vet did a quick scan showing two. possibly 3 pups and he had no concerns.
Well Bella got on my lap to watch the apprentice and then it all started! The noise she made was frightening but bless her she went straight into her whelping box (behind the sofa as this is where she had been digging!!)
I had my mentor on the phone a good few times, I was so glad for her support - The little lady did So well, first pup arrived around 8.40pm and the last 11.30pm. All the babies were settled and latched on by 2am. I'm now officially sleeping on the sofa for the foreseeable future!
Bella is being a great mum so far, all the babies are feeding, being cleaned and she comes out for a chill with us in between. She's also eating like a horse and drinking loads which is great.
My potential new families are now gagging to come round, I'm thinking we should wait for 5 weeks??
Ok well, Bella is settled with her little family and my daughter is on puppy watch so i'm going to watch the apprentice on catch up (even tho I know the result LOL)
Thanks all, will come back with any more questions if that's ok
Mel, Bella and new pups x
Awww well done Bella and Mel!
Congratulations on your new babies!
Were on day 59 here with a huge litter and I'm shattered already. As I expected them early I've on the settee next to the box since day 56 and it's catching up on me already. Honey, on the other hand has been happily snoring her head off on the rug next to me :-/
Been taking her temp. 3 times a day but nothing yet, always between 37.6 and 37.9. I'm currently trying to decide if she's panting because she's going into first stages or just because she's hot?!
My potential puppy owners are also texting and mailing every opportunity lol, bet its as bad waiting for them to see if theres a puppy here for them as it is for me this end lol.
Hopefully not long for me, enjoy your babies while they're diddly and not causing havoc, they grow up and go home far too quick :-(
