Hi,
If you go on the internet and search for blue german shepherds you will get the info you require.
I was going to purchase a blue from a breeder but they let me down.
They are beautiful dogs though.
Good luck in your quest.
Mandy.

If you type 'blue GSD' into the search facility in the top right hand corner of the forum page you will gain access to past threads on this subject.

They are classed as a fault simply because the colour is not accepted in the Breed Standard, which states that a dog should have rich colouring and rich pigment, and as you know, blues have diluted pigment. But they are beautiful! I have a blue/cream, and she is lovely, I love her yellow eyes!!

Also, if you type 'Blue Geman Shepherd dogs' in your search engine, you can find an American Website devoted to blues and livers, its really informative with lots of lovely photos.

There are blue gsd's advertised in "find it" classifieds just saw them tonight when looking through I had never heard of them before, this is a coincidence.

Hi
Just been reading all the posts. I'd never heard of blue or liver GSDs before so I went looking for a picture. They are BEAUTIFUL! Do they have the same gene in long haired GSD as well as short haired? The website I looked on was this http://www.bluedogs.8m.com. If you've got any pictures of your dog I'd love to see them.

Hi Jill
Yes there are long haired blues, mine is one she was so fluffy as a little one, now she seems to be losing her puppy fur, but shes still very fluffy shes still only 6 months old, so will have to see how she turns out.
havent had any photos developed yet sorry.

I personally prefer the white GSD :D , although I know a lot of people are against them.
My Kyra looks like a wolf with beautifull white halflong mane and I love her to pieces.
I do agree though that dogs should be bred for temperament and not just colour.
For all you GSD lovers there is a Exemption show especially for GSD,s only on the 27 April. Classes for normal long coat, white etc. Many classes obedience, breed, fun lots of fun.Venue is Junction 26 M1.I will be there with my 2. Hope some of you can make it.Barbara
