Hi all,
I am just trying to choose which pup to keep from our litter now they are nearly 8 weeks. The bitch pup I like (and would hope to continue our line with health tests permitting) has a slightly recessed vulva.
It is not too sunken, more level with the skin rather than protruding like the other two bitch pups making hers look smaller..
What I would like to ask is if anyone has kept a bitch pup with this and has it righted itself after her first season which I understand the majority do.
If she was to be a 'small girl' has anyone had difficulty mating or whelping?
I fully understand that she must not be spayed before her first season to give her vulva a chance to pop out whilst in season and will be pointing this out to her new owner if I don't keep her and adding it to her contract.
Any experiences of keeping an 'innie' bitch pup would be appreciated
Thanks
Ali

I had a bitch who had a recessed vulva and hers was absolutely fine after her first season. In fact she has a more than ample size vulva now and is a lot bigger than her littersister who was "normal" as a puppy. It would not stop me from picking a puppy in future that's for sure.

Also to add. She was mated and had her litter no problem, her vulva was normal by then anyhow.
Thankyou so much for the reply....glad your girl had her litter ok,
Ali
