Hi all, it's that time again for me when all my previous breeding experience seems to fly out the window and I'm the one that ends up with baby brain instead of my bitch! (All relevant health tests have been done and I show her too so well planned breeding). If my girl has been panting and occasionally shredding bedding for 16 hours, She's sleeping in between, has had soft poos but no sign of waters going, pups still moving, she doesn't seem to be stressed, has taken water with glucouse (sp) doesnt want any food but is this too long? BOTB says alls well for this stage to go on 24 hrs even up to 48 but I keep thinking she should be more progressed by now, am I just being stupid or in you opinion would you go to the vets?
Thanks in advance

One of my girls would drag out the first stage from 7/8am to midnight but she wasn't stressed, I could see the waves of contractions along her sides between digging and shredding of paper, I'd give hourly nutrodrops and calciboost to keep levels up.

Are the pups due as some bitches have dry runs, provided she isn't stressed, passing dark green discharge or straining and getting no where I would hold off doing anything further, can you actually see the contractions.

If nothing doing by later this evening then speak to the vet

Thanks for your reply, she's 61days for her first mating. She doesn't seem stressed, can't see any contractions but couldn't in her last litter she just got more frantic ripping towels, this time she's started to pant a bit heavier now, this morning it was quite slow panting, just stood her up and she has lots of water, clear no smell, can't be sure it's not pee? Not shredding very often just every now and then. I'm so worried about jumping the gun and my vet seem to say c section with any ailment! Is a case of watched pot etc?
