I can't be understood in the outside world so I need to come here to share these thoughts :) Some 'cute' videos doing the rounds drive me up the wall. There is one at the moment of puppies trying to get up/down the stairs invariably falling and tumbling about. Everyone else thinks it is cute my first thought was "that puppy is far too young to be doing stairs by itself!!"
Dont get me started, although its usually wildlife ones my friends post on FB. Latest one being an orphaned squirrel kit being nursed by a lactating cat with her own kittens, claimed in the blurb, that the squirrel and learnt to purr like a cat, as when the owner picked the thing up, it started making this noise. What the eejits failed to realise is that that noise is a defensive/ aggressive vocalisation made by squirrels !.
It's not just animals. We get two home video type TV shows and in some of the antics a person (or animal) must have been hurt. Certainly the potential for serious injury is obvious. Yet this is called entertainment and we are supposed to laugh and most do.
Yes, I have a forum where people are often posting pictures saying 'xxx has learned to climb the stairs, how cute' and I'm replying saying 'very cute but please don't let him do it often, too much impact on growing joints etc.....' Trying to be gentle in pointing it out! :-)
Has anyone got a chocolate lab male that they would be willing to mate with my female please? Can't afford any fees but as long as she had 2 puppies at least then you could have one:-) Needs to be this week and next.
I responded with
If you can't afford a stud fee - I would ring your vets and ask how much a C-section costs both in normal vet surgery time and out of hours. I know someone that paid £1500 when their female got into trouble whelping it was out of hours. You need to be aware of all potential costs of having a litter - granted you may be lucky and your female may not need a C-section but what if she does need one?
I didn't even start on health testing...a few hours later the post had been deleted. There were some showing interest at using their dog but it was a black lab or would a retriever do... No doubt they will be the ones going to work and thinking the dam will do it all for them...
Re the cute video's you see lots of them, can see the discomfort of the dogs involved and then the families involved wonder why fido is starting to growl or snap..as all the other subtle dog body language isn't being noticed.
Is nice to know I am not alone :) I like cute animal videos too- just not ones where we are misinterpreting behaviours or being stupid to the animals detriment!
