It's why I prefer as a breeder to use the Dog Tattoo register,
http://www.dog-register.co.uk/ as I know for certain my details will always be there and I be contactable.
I do encourage new owners to also chip their dogs, but with chips it's all down to the new owners and if they don't keep you details on the chip registration your gone.
I know there is one chip registry that allows for dual registration so that the breeder can be the dual person, but can't remember Which one that is and you'd need to use their chips for this option.
Found it but you would have to apply for this service.
"Dual registration
Petlog offers a system whereby welfare/the breeder can apply for an 'organisation number' which ensures all welfare/breeder contact details are held in a secure place on the database that cannot be accessed or altered by the new owner."
