So, my puppy has been going to shows since he was six months old. He's now eight months.
We've come home with rosettes/cards at every show we've been to except our very first show.
In making this topic, I'm not sure what I am trying to achieve. Maybe I'm just bragging or want to tell people that it means something to. Maybe I'm asking if I seem to be doing well, as he's my first show dog.
Breed club show - I learnt from this show that I put him in too many classes. He was in seven classes and got a second, two thirds, two forths and a fifth.
First all-breed open show - We got a first, a second, a third, BPIB by default and Toy Puppy Group 4. There was a champion pomerain puppy that didn't get placed.
Breed club show -he got third and fourth.
A big county show -He got third in AV Toy (any age) and it was a Big class.
Finally, yesterday. A big all-breed open show, held over two days. Very windy.
Entered in two breed classes and two AV classes. We got a default first in breed junior, but we were beaten in the puppy class (third out of 3) before, so we couldn't go in the challenge.
Waited for the AV Toy puppy class. Ten entries, same judge as our and a lot of toy breeds. We came first!
Next class was our last, AV Junior. Two entries. We won again!
So we got Best AV Toy Puppy!
My little puppy did so well yesterday, stood really well on the table and on the group despite the coldness, rain and wind. When on the table the judge sneezed and frightened him, he stepped back and came out of his show lead but I put it back on quickly. The judge apologised then told us to do our up-and down and triangle.
We have our first big Championship Show in a few weeks.
Thanks all, for whatever this is.

Yes it's best not to do so many repeat entries, it marks you out as a novice sometimes and can make your puppy a little bored with so much time standing around.
You can't have a champion puppy by the way, all puppies MUST win at least one CC after 12 months to get the title of champion.
Well done on your good start.
Thanks for the reply, I thought the champion thing sounded odd as it was my mum who told me. She could have heard the owner talking about a different dog, maybe the one in the adult group.

Well done on yesterday,I was at that show and watched your little puppy and thought he did very well. I would enter a puppy in a maximum of two classes such as puppy (breed) and a stakes or av class as the last thing you want to do is loose his enthusiasimn and risk him becoming bored as he gets older.
I remember you telling me that Windsor is your first champ show, this is my favourite show, and I look forward to hearing how you get on

Thanks Lucy!
Tamar -were you showing and if so how did you get on? I read your topic earlier and will you be at Windsor also?
He stood much better than normal. Normally he sits down more. Was the first time I tried standing in front of him and I guess it must have worked!
He was better in the practice on the table but was still good for the judge -even though she sneezed and threw him off balance! Couldn't blame her though, Poor woman though in that wind and rain all morning. Glad she put a coat on.
I was very surprised when he beat the other nine dogs in the AV Puppy!
