
I don't think anyone meant to be disparaging, but it needed to be said.
I meet people constantly who know that a season means bleeding, so when the bleeding stops they think the season is over, when in fact this is the most dangerous time, as that is when they are likely to be most receptive.
Visitors to the Forum may well read this thread when doing a search on seasons.
So I would say assume a season lasts at least 21 days, if you have a male on the premises or contact with male dogs keep a watchful eye on behaviour for another week, and also be cautious until the genitals are back to pre season size (remembering that if this is a first season that a mature bitch will stay a little bigger in this department than before puberty).
