Does anyone have a link where I can find out more about the Hungarian scoring system please ?
I've found the  N M & E classifications, but I'm seeing scores such as HD - FREI and HD - C, which I can't find an explanation for.

As far as I can see Hungary uses the FCI guidelines but uses their own "wording": explanation of system here

FCI/European Score/BVA/OFA Classes:

A1 = BVA 0-4 (Excellent)
A2 = BVA 5-10 (Good)
B1 = BVA 11-18 (Fair)
B2 = BVA 19-25 (Borderline)
C = BVA 26-35 (Mild Dysplasia)
D = BVA 36-50 (Moderate Dysplasia)
E = BVA 51-106 (Severe Dysplasia)

German Scores/BVA:

A Stamp = BVA 0-10 (HD free)
B Stamp = BVA 10-20 (Transitional)
C Stamp = BVA 20-30 (Mild HD)
D & E Stamp = Moderate to Severe HD

America:

Excellent, Good, Fair (can all be used for breeding)

Borderline, Mild, Moderate, Severe (can not be used for breeding)

Free?

My guess would be frei means free. Some countries would describe dogs as being HD clear. We used to do that in Sweden under the old system many years ago. Pedigrees would say "HD: UA" meaning "Utan Anmärkning". Roughly translates as "Without objections". Really good dogs would be stated as HD: Utmärkt, meaning excellent.

I did wonder if it meant , free, but didn't want to assume.

If I was you see if they still have the films and ask the vet to send off to the BVA and pay the fee.  Quite frequently I am seeing foreign scores not relating to that table sadly....

It's German for 'free' I believe, so might well be used in a European system. :-)
