Would a bitch having loose boobs with a phantom be marked down place wise  in a show do you think ?

Depends on the judge, I'd not put a dog in the ring because of it.
Saw a dog very recently with this and they won their class at a ch show.
It shouldn't but you know some judges!!

If you're going Saturday ill see you there :-)

I'd say it's like coat, something that comes and goes, and might make a difference with final placings with exhibits of equal quality.

Personally I wouldnt show a bitch in this condition.

Slightly off but similar to topic....
I have seen some bitches whose underline retracts quickly & in some you would hardly know she had a litter at all. This is of course most noticable on smooth coated breeds(like my own). I have seen some girls in other smooth coated breeds)with long nipples, where I would only assume she was with pups a very long time.

TBH it's not always the case. Some bitches just never go back to the way they used to be. Our large working breed often only feed for 4 weeks or so, and they are pretty variable as to how well they tighten up afterwards.

Personally, I think it's a shame if a good bitch is penalised for having had puppies. I don't think many, if any, breed standards call for a tight underline. If bitches who've whelped aren't able to be shown afterwards, they may only have a short show career. In these days of falling entries, that's a shame.

Last year my bitch won 3 BIS and a reserve as well as numerous Groups and champ show placings after having a litter. She's never been particularly neat after her 1st season but its never stopped her doing well. As long as the dog is in good muscular condition and is otherwise healthy I don't see why you shouldt show her..... Though it may be slightly easier to hide in my own breed as they are small and have a skirt!lol

Thanks everyone, she's in fit muscular condition apart from boobs which will hopefully pass soon as she should be thinking she would have pups any day now. Not going sue so good luck my next outing with her is Blackpool x

I certainly havnt said that, I have shown bitches after having litter/s.

I just wouldnt show when they are having a phantom or are not quite ready ie soft underline...

And I didn't say that either!! If you're going to quote people's posts, at least use the sentence it came from, making the meaning clear.

As for this bit, all I was suggesting is that some bitches may never regain their previous underline, however long you wait.

I did get asked once by a judge how old her puppies were with my girl, I was rather confused as I think they were about 16 months old at that stage!!! Apparently she had large nipples!! I don't think I got put down much though, and I showed her almost as soon as the puppies were gone, thin patches and all!
