I have had a dog with breathing problems and one of the things I noticed was the way she slept.  Instead of curling completely up she used to prop her head onto the side of her bed or anything else handy.  I did not notice this until she was diagnosed so I can't remember if any of my others ever did this.  Has any one else ever come across anything similar?  Does your healthy dog do this?

My 2 Cardi's are always hanging their heads over the side of their bed while they sleep, does not look comfy at all! Hope your girl is doing OK :)

My first dog Louie used to prop his head up on the side of his bed, he never had any breathing difficulties at all .
Hope your dogs ok :-)

My dog will lift his head and wait for one of us to place a scatter cushion down for him to rest his head on :) He has no breathing problems, just likes to be extra comfy and has us well trained in serving his every need! :)

Thank you for replies.   I'm just a worrier.  Less worried now.

One of my SWD's hangs his head out of the bed.  Another one sticks hers up to the top of the bed.  Another just curls up and the youngest goes in all positions :)

One of my dogs has only one lung - he is noticeably more comfortable when sleeping on one side v's the other

Another of my dogs sleeps with his head scrunched up so badly he snores like a train - if you can imagine his body is completely flat, east west, but his head is twisted so that his nose is pointing at the ceiling, north - if I pull him straight then the snoring stops immediately.  He doesn't care either way but sometimes it's so loud we can't hear ourselves think.  He actually sounds like a comedy sound effect...
