I have the DC41 and it is brilliant in more ways than one, it really picks up and it has so much suction I find it hard to use so my OH does it for me - talk about a win win situation.
Believe it or not I still have a DC01 and a DC04 - the DC01 is used in the workshop and is still doing it's job the DC04 I use in the home if Alan is not around to do it as I can't push the new one against the suction but the DC04 picks up OK but not nearly as well as the new one - looks fine but if you go over with the new one it picks up a heap of grit the other left behind.

The DCO14 is my third, I had the DCO1 in 1990 which was fine but my brothers ex managed to bend the wand and I couldn't then get it in and out, so got the DC04 in 1998, (gave the DC0I to my Dad who didn't need to use the wand) and then got the DC014 in 2004.
Over this period I have owned 10 dogs with 6 at present being the most in one go, though I have had at least 4 since 1999.
I've had a Dyson animal for quite a few years now, but I believe the actual vacuum part is the same as other Dysons, it is just the attachment that is the specific 'animal' part, for using the handheld on furniture etc.
I have a Miele Animal that I have only used a couple of times, I would let it go for very little but would say it is useless if your dog looses a lot of hair because it uses bags and they cost a fortune and if you fill them everyday the cost is too much.
After numerous vacuum cleaners, I'm finally happy with...... a Samsung lol. It's a little heavy but it seems to cope with all the dog hair, odd strand of hay on the floor etc (none of my Dysons would pick up anything thicker than an eyelash lol).

Definitely ! That's what I like about the Dysons so much. They pick up as well as I want and there is no cost to empty them :) Some of the vacuums that are recommended on here have bags that are really expensive (unless you don't use the vacuum, of course :) ). Also they aren't environmentally friendly :)
I fill mine up just going around the kitchen (the dogs main area), another empty after doing the rest of the downstairs. Upstairs once a week doesn't fill it.
We have eight of our own plus home boarders. I hoover everyday and empty the canister at the end of it (it's not generally full). I wash the filters once a week.
