Here's a funny one to puzzle out
Savannah, 7-8 month old Selkirk Rex kitten, was lying on my pillow in bed last night, she was behind my head, and for no reason I know of, she started grabbing tufts of my hair, which is short, in her mouth and shaking her head like a dog with a ragger !. I had been asleep and it woke me up.
It wasn't sore in the slightest , it was very very funny, but for the life of me, I don't know why !
Any ideas ?

LOL, sounds like she was just having fun :)

I've seen a cat of my own 'rag' a bird she had caught :( so I imagine cats are the same as dogs, in so much as their play will consist of any natural behaviour they may need in real life, like killing things. I think she was play-killing tufts of your hair! :)

I'm absolutely sure that I once had a cat which did this.
Probably the reason I can't remember which one, is because I told it firmly but kindly such behaviour was unwelcome.
Which may have involved loud exclamations of pain and jumping out of chairs, as most of my past cats have been Siamese and Orientals and they don't tend to do things by halves, but they are quick to learn.

Edit: now I have thought about it, I reckon it was the Black British Shorthair I once had. Which might make sense.

Well Selkirks do have BSH in their make-up lol.
I suppose doing it round the back of my head, she was aiming for the right area for a killing bite !.
If you see an item on the news about a woman in Fife being killed by her cat, you'll know it was me lol.

My burmese will sit on my head and start pulling my hair or patting me with her paws when she wants to get into the bed under the duvet. unfortunately she always seems to have her claws partly out so its ouchy.I agree oriental dont do things by halves !!

Thankfully Savi is very gentle, even when she has a hissy fit about getting her knickers combed.

My mainecoon will do this if he sits behind me on the sofa.  He's really gentle about it and I actually find the 'grooming' session quite relaxing!lol.  Can you tell I'm not particularly vain?lol  My mother would have a hairy fit if the cat did that to her hair!hehe
