I am so excited. I spoke a few months ago that I was possibly looking for another dog and was thinking of a whippet rescue, however I have been seduced by a pair of the most beautiful brown eyes. She is a Beagle, she was abandoned and found wandering, has had pups recently and is terrified of people.( no idea where the pups are though )
She has now been spayed in the rescue centre and is ready for rehoming although still very scared.
I spent time with her today and she met my most possessive dog ( my spaniel ) they got on really well and within half an hour she was beginning to trust me and wag her tail. It broke my heart when she had to go back into the kennels. She has been reserved for me while I have the home check, although I don't thin k we will have a problem as we have been checked for rescues many times.
I am so excited she is adorable, how can anyone treat any dog so badly I just don't understand.

Hope you have a lovely life with her.
I used to babysit a Beagle through the week, and they are extremely loveable, if somewhat singleminded .

Awww bless her. So very pleased for you, I am sure that you will pass with flying colours. I bet you can't wait. :-)
Ah, beagles are just adorable :D And mine gets on great with my springer. She used to get the springer to play with her by picking up a ball and throwing it for her. Incredibly intelligent, just wish she would work with me sometimes rather than me having to work with her... Be prepared for a learning curve, I have never known anything like my beagle.

The Beagles that have come to my club have been very hard work so would get to work straight away on a good recall and scenting games.

I must admit yesterday she did pull on the lead when we went for a walk, but she was just glad to get away from the kennel, she is very distressed there.
If she has been used for puppies then I doubt she has had training, but I will start very gently once she has settled and has stopped cowering down expecting a beating. I am going to enjoy every minute with her as she is most likely the last dog I will get in this lifetime, so recall and games will be essential but in her own time. She is aged 3-5 years so still young enough to train nicely.

Lovely news and fun times ahead for you ? What is her name ?
My beagle's heel work was the easiest thing ever to train with the help of a few treats. And she is fab at it :D
What is her name ?Betty Beagle
Very excited for you, sounds like she will be a very loving dog once you get her home, wonderful that you are giving her that lifelong home. :-) For now just lots of TLC and getting her used to living in your home and bonding with you and your other dogs, wishing you all the best of luck. So pleased she will have a happy ending.

Awwww, Betty Beagle is adorable! How could you ignore that face? :) And, you can tell she's waiting for her life to begin properly. Awwww, I wanna snuggle!

Brilliant! Good for you, she looks a real sweetheart.
I did laugh at your 'still young enough to train' comment, young enough yes - but she IS a beagle :-) :-)
Be happy Betty :-)
Beagles aren't that bad. Mine has always gone off lead. Her recall is not instant. I don't let her off places where it would need to be but she will come back. I only ever lost her once and that was on a very frosty day which seems to magnify all the scents for her. And if I had carried on the way I was going I would have found her again - we were on our way home and she made her way without me! But I went back to where we had been to look for her. She then followed another dog walker part way home, he caught her for long enough to ring me and let me know where she was when she wriggled loose from him. I found her making her way back to the park with a detour in to every open garden to check their bins for recycling!
She has done a bit of agility and was absolutely great at the equipment, if I had known a bit more and thought a bit more about how to train her we probably would have done some successful competing. But time and money are against me now.
I admit she is not really into play, she won't tug or retrieve but she like to earn treats and stuff and she will wrestle a bit.

A lady in the village has a rescue beagle who is off lead in the fields and is fine normally. Her problem is that she has become nervous of other dogs after one attacked her. She will then turn round and run home rather then to her owner, following her scent so she knows where to go. Unfortunately, although our village is pretty quiet, there's always someone who speeds along the narrow lanes, so she has to be on lead unless her owner can see far enough ahead. Luckily she has a good recall. Sweet little dog.
Interesting. After long time you find your desire puppy. Its so good for you and hope you spend lovely time with her.Share some pictures here.

Home check was fine, so I collect her tomorrow morning. I won't sleep tonight.

Enjoy. Even if the recall is never perfect, you can easily excersise her sufficeintly on lead/long-line/flexi.

Whoo hoo, brilliant! :-) :-) :-)
Just think she has no idea her life is about to change, tomorrow is going to be the best day of her life, so far... :-)

Oh Sue, I only just caught up as I'm away on holiday, and cliffs don't help my dongle!
I did try your link, but it wouldn't work for me. I wish you many loving years with her. I could feel your excitement from here. :-)

I just checked the link and she has been taken off the website. Probably because she is mine...all mine....bless her
