Has anyone used it yet? I'd love some first hand knowledge of the service received if you have?

We collected our Dane pup from there about 7 yrs ago, and the gentleman we dealt with was very helpful, and even told us to go into the staff kitchen and make a cuppa while we were waiting for our pup to be brought to us.

I thought it only opened last year... do you mean Ingliston quarantine kennels?

Possibly (likely) I'm confused, have you been able to fly dogs into Edinburgh via pp that long?

If it is the airport reception you mean do you know how long the pup waited to disembark from the plane and what the holding kennels are like? How long did you have to wait till you got pup, were you able to see it while they were processing the paperwork?

Replying to myself here but may be helpful if anyone in the future searches for this topic. They seem slightly more reasonable than Heathrow.

>Ø  Animal Reception Centre Fees   £220.00 (per animal)

>Ø  Airline Handling                                £33.00   (per airway bill)

>Ø  EU processing                                   £45.00   (per airway bill)

>Should an animal require veterinary assistance on arrival the owner / consignee will be charged at cost.

>Should an animal be DOA the owner / consignee will be liable for incineration costs.

>ALL FEES SUBJECT TO VAT @ 20%

So a total of £357.60 in charges and they say the animal is taken off the plane straight after the passengers and let into a secure run at the animal reception centre straight away. I may have to wait up to 3 hours apparently but at least pup will be able to stretch legs and get a drink.

Our pup was flown only from Bristol, we were £250.00 in total, once the plane landed, Inca was with us in around 20 minutes, we done  the paperwork, and she was ready to go, we didnt have to a long wait.

It's flying in that is so costly, flying out especially accompanied which means not Cargo but checked /Excess Baggage is much cheaper.

Hi

I have used the facility at Edinburgh and found it great. Living in Edinburgh it is great to have such a facility on my doorstep. I have used Heathrow previously I had to wait 6 hours to get my dog then travel all the way back to Edinburgh. The clearance time at Edinburgh was only about 2 hours but rather than waiting the staff called me when 'Bob' was ready to be collected.

I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful despite my pestering. All in all a great facility with fanststic caring staff.

Brilliant Smitchy that's very helpful :)

Do you know if your dog was allowed out the crate into a kennel and run as soon as it reached the reception centre or did Bob have to wait in the crate for those 2 hours?

Also what was your general opinion of security there? Are there double entrance doors, or double doors on kennels? I wouldn't want pupster to escape :)

Hi Chaumsong

Glad to be of help.

Bob was let out of his kennel into a run and offered food and water. The staff showed me Bob in his kennel via their CCTV camera.

Security was tight and no members of the public are allowed access to the centre therefore I cannot comment on the entrance doors. From what I saw on the camera the kennel run itself had a stainelss steel cage door with 2 locking bolts.

Brilliant, thanks so much that's answered my questions and was what I was hoping for :-)
